Please note that NDCs do not cover the entire extent of Guyana. As rural local government units, they cover areas that have significant population concentrations. On the NDC maps for each region, areas not covered by NDCs are labeled "Rest of Region ..." and their status is given as "Unclassified".

For the purpose of census mapping, each NDC and unclassified area is assigned a numeric code. Demographic tables in the Census refer to these areas by their numeric codes and also by their NDC names. Using the numeric codes, you can use GIS software to join demographic tables to the NDC shapefiles and conduct mapping and analysis of census variables.
